I’m back! Yes, shout for joy! Ok, I’m now going to attempt to update all of you people on the last couple of weeks.
FINLAND: We drove up to Finland on October 1 (8 hr drive) what did I do in Finland? Well besides eating tons of chocolate, learning how to knit and learning a bit of Finnish ( “minä olen Melodie Kanadasta”=”I am Melodie from Canada” “siunausta”=”Bless you!” “Jeesus rakastaa sinua”=”Jesus loves you” “älä sure poika”=”don’t worry boy” “kiitos”=”thank you” and our personal favorite was “sinä olet suuri pottu”=”you are a big potato”) we joined up with another DTS in Rovaniemi for 2 weeks of lectures. I’ll be honest….it was really hard for me the first while to be out there. It’s crazy how fast and easy it is to make yourself a comfort zone! Like seriously! Well, I got shoved out of the lovely comfort zone I had made for myself during the short 3 weeks that I had been in Borgen. I love that I’m paying them to do this to me. Hehe. but I’m really glad that we spent those 2 weeks in Finland. The lectures were great, I was maybe, kind-of, just a little bit sad to leave there! Being out there really made me appreciate Borgen so much more! I love this place and these people. (of course I could never write anything bad about them…seeing as they have all found this address J ha) jk jk jk jk jk jk(who am I?? who am I??) ok, I think it’s best to move on now.
So we drove back home from Finland on October 13, arrived at the base late in the night. We couldn’t sleep in our own room, b/c other’s were sleeping in them, so I spent the night on Hanna’s floor & then early Saturday morning we drove down to Tromsø. It’s 1.5hrs south of Borgen & we spent the week-end at a conference thingy. It was a really good experience. We left back for Borgen-home Sunday evening and after that I was pretty much exhausted. I’ve been trying to catch up on my sleep this week, last night I went to bed shortly after 9pm…it was so great.
Next week we’re going to be going down to Tromsø again for a little bit. I say a little bit b/c at the moment I can’t remember how long it is. Also I’m not too sure what the internet availability will be while I’m there. Just to warn you all: you may have to go without me once again. *sigh* I know it’s hard children, but just breathe. I will be back one day.
I don’t have my pictures uploaded onto my computer yet…but hopefully by this week-end I’ll have that done. Or maybe even tonight….you’ll just have to wait and see.
